Liga BBVA: Barcelona extend their partnership with UNICEF until 2020 and will pay €2m per year

FC Barcelona (Liga BBVA) have extended their partnership with UNICEF until 2020, and will pay €2m per year to the international organisation, announced the club on 25/02/2016.

To celebrate its tenth year of partnership with UNICEF, the club has increased its annual donation, which had previously been €1.5m. The agreement was unveiled in the presence of Josep Maria Bartomeu, club president, and Anthony Lake, executive director of UNICEF. Since September 2006, the partnership between the two parties has helped more than one million children in seven countries (Swaziland, Malawi, Angola, South Africa, Ghana, Brazil and China).

The UNICEF logo will be visible on the back of Barça shirt

  • The UNICEF logo was visible on the front of the club shirt jersey from the 2006-07 season to the 2010-11 season.
  • The non-governmental organisation was replaced by Qatar Airways as the shirt sponsor from the 2011-12 season.
  • The UNICEF logo was then moved to the back of the official shirt under the players' number.
