FIFA reforms adopted with 89% of the vote (179 votes) at the Extraordinary Congress in Zurich (SUI)

179 national federations, representing 89% of the 201 valid votes cast, voted in favour of the reforms developed by the 2016 FIFA Reform Committee at the Extraordinary FIFA Congress in Zurich (SUI) on 26/02/2016 (156 votes were required, or 75% of the 207 associations present and eligible to vote; Indonesia and Kuwait have been suspended for government interference). 22 federations (11%) voted against the reform measures.

These reforms include a president of FIFA who "works to promote a positive image of the governing body of world football"; the FIFA Executive Committee replaced by a FIFA Council of 37 members -- including the president included -- and will have a "more strategic and supervision" role; at least six women on the FIFA Council; term limits (not retroactive) of no more than three terms of four years for all members of this Council; and a secretary general appointed by the Council to serve as the CEO of the international body.
