FIFA: "G. Infantino will restore the credibility of the international federation" (UEFA)

"The UEFA Executive Committee wishes to congratulate Gianni Infantino on winning today's FIFA presidential election and is very much looking forward to working closely with him to promote, protect and develop football around the world," stated UEFA, three hours after the election of Gianni Infantino (ITA-SUI), the secretary general of the European body, at the extraordinary FIFA Congress held in Zurich on 26/02/2016.

"Gianni Infantino has held several positions within UEFA and was a key force in implementing numerous initiatives across Europe and beyond, and we are firmly convinced that with his skills, knowledge and perseverance, he will restore the credibility of FIFA. We wish him every success as FIFA President and express our sincere thanks for his outstanding work as UEFA General Secretary," added UEFA on 26/02/2016.

The topic of replacing Gianni Infantino at UEFA will be discussed by the Executive Committee of the European confederation at its next meeting on Friday 04/03/2016.
