Premier League: Iranian-British businessman Farhad Moshiri acquires 49.9% of Everton FC

"The club will have a new major shareholder who brings the promise of new investment. Farhad Moshiri will acquire 49.9% of the club, conditional only on the Premier League approving his investment," announced Everton FC (Premier League) on 27/02/2016.

Purchasing a 49.9% stake in the capital of Everton FC, the Iranian-British businessman Farhad Moshiri acquired about 17,000 shares of the club at a price of £5,000 (€6,380), valuing Everton FC at approximately £175m (€223m as of 26/02/2016). Farhad Moshiri bought out 23.27% of the club from the Englishman Robert Earl, as well as obtaining shares from Bill Kenwright (who owned 25.84% of the club before the transaction) and Jon Woods (18.92%). Minority shareholders hold 31.97% of the capital of the club.

Farhad Moshiri (60 years old), who is involved with many British and Russian companies, has an estimated fortune of $1.8bn (€1.65bn by the US business magazine Forbes. He was a 15% minority shareholder of Arsenal FC until selling his shares to the Russian Alisher Usmanov for about £200m (€250m) on 26/02/2016.
