Scotland: Hibernian offer 51% of its capital to its supporters via the digital platform Sharein

Hibernian FC (Ladbrokes Championship, Scottish second Division) have launched a share issue on the digital platform Sharein, to allow fans of the club to acquire the majority of its capital, on 25/02/2016. In August 2015, the Scottish club settled the first issue of shares, which allowed individuals, as well as supporters groups that are part of the "Hibernian Supporters Limited" company, to increase their share in the capital of club from 1.9% to 20.1%.

This operation also allowed Hibernian FC to raise £540,000 (around €740,000 as of 31/08/2015) and to reinvest some of that money in the squad and club infrastructure. After the new share issue, which closes on 30/06/2016, the club's management hope that the supporters will have acquired a majority 51% of the capital. The shares are priced at 4 pence (€0.05) and the minimum investment is set at £200 (€257) per investor. The Sharein platform allows each person registered on the website to invest up to £10,000 (€12,876). To make a larger investment, the investor must negotiate directly with the club management.
