Ireland: public broadcaster RTÉ sells the rights to 22 matches of Euro 2016 to free-TV channel TV3

The Irish public broadcaster RTÉ has sold the broadcast rights, in the Republic of Ireland, of 22 of the 51 matches of Euro 2016 to the private free-TV channel TV3 via a sublicense, say several sources on 22/02/2016.

Under the agreement, which must be approved by UEFA, RTÉ will retain the rights to the three group matches featuring the Irish national team (Group E against Sweden, Belgium and Italy, see below) as well as the most important matches of the tournament, including the final.

TV3 will broadcast 22 games not broadcast by RTÉ. The private channel also acquired the broadcasting rights to the Six Nations (rugby) for the 2018-2021 period, on 11/11/2015. This competition will also be broadcast in Ireland by RTÉ until 2017.

• Ireland - Sweden, on 13/06/2016 (kickoff at 18:00 CET) at the Stade de France (Paris)

• Belgium - Ireland, on 18/06/2016 (kickoff at 15:00 CET) at Stade Bordeaux

• Italy - Ireland, on 22/06/2016 (kickoff at 21:00 CET) at Stade Pierre-Mauroy (Lille)
