MSV Duisburg banned from 2.Bundesliga for 2013/14 season

On the 03/06/2013, Sponsors.de announced that the DFL (Deutscher Fussball Liga, German Football League) had decided on the 28/05/2013, to ban MSV Duisburg from participating in the 2013/14 season in 2.Bundesliga (German second division) due to insufficient economic capacity.

According to the German website, two reasons led to the DFL's decision:
1. Duisburg had presented a balance error of €300k due to a miscalculation of interest on a loan to save the club from bankruptcy.
2. An additional loan promised by Walter Hellmich, was conditional of the obtention, by the club's former president, of a seat on the club's supervisory board. However, DFL regulations state that a club cannot indicate in its draft budget just the immediately available and non-conditional revenue.

MSV Duisburg, who finished the 2012/13 season in 11^th place in 2.Bundesliga, will appeal to the Permanent Court of Arbitration upon receipt of the DFL's decision in writing.
