France: "14 years is enough, I will not represent the LFP at end of 2016" (F. Thiriez, president)

"I will not be representing the league at the end of the year. This will make 14 years. That's a lot. 14 years is enough. That is enough for the league, and no doubt, and also for me," announced Frederic Thiriez, president of the LFP, and also the international EPFL, in an interview published in the French sports daily L'Equipe on 08/03/2016.

"It has been 14 years since I have volunteered as president, representing many professional and personal sacrifices. Volunteering, this has cost me dearly! I have other things in my life. I want to dedicate myself more to my lawyer activities and my other passions, such as music, theatre, writing, hiking in the mountains..." added Frédéric Thiriez, lawyer of the French Council of State and other high courts.

"As for the League, the management needs a generational change, the same as FIFA, UEFA and the FFF. Add youth. A little new blood, this would not hurt the League. And I'm not worried. There will be plenty of quality candidates," stated Frédéric Thiriez. Elections for the presidency of the French LFP are scheduled in the Fall 2016.
