Football League: #BreakTheRoutine campaign aims to boost attendance in midweek matches

The Football League has launched the hashtag #BreakTheRoutine marketing campaign, on 07/03/2016, to improve the attendance of matches played in mid-week by the 72 clubs of the Sky Bet Championship (English second division) Sky Bet League One (English third division) and Sky Bet League Two (English fourth division).

This campaign comes via the shared hashtag on social networks and a dedicated website (www.midweekfootballleague.com) with the schedules of the three championships and ticketing links. A lottery draw set up on the site allows clubs to offer a fan two tickets to a game of his local team.

"I've played, over the years, very intense matches, but nothing beats the atmosphere of a match in mid-week. Whether you are a season ticket holder or you have never been to a game, it is an experience that any football fan should live," said Chris Kamara (former professional footballer and now a commentator for Sky Sports, the channel which holds the TV and digital rights and to the three divisions until 2018-19), in the promotional video for the #BreakTheRoutine marketing campaign.
