Liverpool FC: over 1000 jobs to be created on matchdays with the expansion of Anfield

More than 1000 new "roles" will be created at Anfield on matchdays by Liverpool FC (Premier League), following the expansion of its stadium, whose capacity will be increased from 45,500 to 54,000 seats, said the club on 07/03/2016.

Increasing the capacity of Anfield will be the result of the extension of the Main Stand, the main grandstand of the stadium, which will seat 21,000 spectators in 2016-17, compared to 12,500 currently. "The expanded 20,500-seater stand will feature state-of-the-art fan concourse and hospitality facilities together with premium public spaces -- creating a wide range of casual opportunities across the club’s matchday kitchen, retail, catering, safety, hospitality, tours and museum teams," said Liverpool FC.

The club wants to primarily recruit residents of Anfield, where the stadium is located, and North Liverpool. "Liverpool FC have always sought to develop employment and training in the area and these new positions are excellent news for the city," said Ann O'Byrne, deputy mayor of Liverpool, on 07/03/2016.
