EPFL: Lars-Christer Olsson (SWE) appointed chairman after the resignation of Frédéric Thiriez (FRA)

"The EPFL’s General Assembly today unanimously appointed Lars-Christer Olsson as new chairman," announced the European Professional Football Leagues on 11/03/2016. The president of the Swedish Football League replaces Frédéric Thiriez (FRA), who, on the same day, resigned as the head of the EPFL after becoming president of the World League Football association, on 25/02/2016.

"I believe it is in the interest of both the EPFL and the WLF to have different leaders, therefore, I have decided to step down as EPFL chairman to be able to focus on the recently created WLF in order to defend the position of the leagues at the world level,” stated Frédéric Thiriez in the press release of EPFL, on 11/03/2016.

European Leagues expressed their gratitude to Frederic Thiriez, EPFL chairman for two and a half years (from 25/10/2013 to 11/03/2016). Lars-Christer Olsson is appointed chairman until the end of the term, with the next elections scheduled in October 2016.
