China is the most attractive country in which to hold a major sporting event, according to a ranking created by Sportcal via the GSI (Global Sports Impact) project, published on 28/05/2013. China retain the top spot which it has held since the first edition of this ranking in 2012. Canada and France are in second and third place respectively. France is in tenth and drops three places from the 2012 rankings.

The GSI project analyses more than 700 major sporting events between 2008 and 2019. The objective is to create an international methodology and measure the impact of sporting events around the world, taking into account the economic, financial, sporting and media impact of each event.
