Iya Mohammed, president of FECAFOOT (Cameroon Football Federation), has been in custody in SED (Secretary of State for Defence) premises in Yaounde (Cameroon) since 10/06/2013.

Reports suggest he has been arrested for "embezzlement" and "misappropriation of public funds" linked to the state-owned cotton firm Sodecoton, of which he is CEO. According to his lawyer, Mballa Manasseh, his arrest is unrelated to any FECAFOOT activity.

Mohammed, who has been president of FECAFOOT since 11/04/2000, was re-elected in 2005 and in 2009. He is standing for a fourth term, despite opposition from several Cameroon players and other members of the federation. After several postponements the election is due to take place on 06/19/2013.
