FIFA files Victim Statement and Restitution to recover "tens of millions" seized by US Justice

"FIFA today submitted documents to the US authorities in an effort to reclaim tens of millions of dollars pocketed illegally by corrupt FIFA members and other football officials. FIFA estimates that at a minimum tens of millions of dollars were diverted from the football community illegally through bribery, kickbacks and corrupt schemes carried out by the defendants. This amount is likely to increase as the investigation continues," announced the international federation on 16/03/2016.

According to FIFA sources, the international federation has been identified as a victim in the cases against multiple defendants in the US Justice Department indictment of 20/05/2015 and the superceding indictment of 25/11/2015, as all the charges brought forth have been against individuals, and not against any organization.
