Premier League: Ian Ayre to leave his role as CEO of Liverpool FC in May 2017

Ian Ayre, CEO of Liverpool FC (Premier League), will leave his post in May 2017, announced the club on 14/03/2016. Arriving at Liverpool FC as commercial director in 2007, he has served as CEO since 2013 and decided not to extend its current mandate.

"Ian Ayre (52 years old) advised us of his intention to step down as CEO a few months ago. We asked him on several occasions to take some time to reconsider his decision, but have been unable to convince him to remain as CEO beyond May 2017. Under his leadership, we have seen Liverpool transform from a club that was on the brink of bankruptcy, to one which today enjoys strong financial and operational health." said the majority shareholder of the club, John Henry, the chairman, Tom Werner, and vice-chairman, Mike Gordon, in a joint statement on 14/03/2016.
