Liga BBVA: SD Eibar announce €3.2m plan to rebuild the East Stand of the Estadio Municipal de Ipurúa

SD Eibar (Liga BBVA) have announced a €3.2m plan to rebuild the East Stand of the Estadio Municipal de Ipurúa, on 09/03/2016. The work, funded entirely by the club, will begin after the last SD Eibar home match in the 2015-16 Liga BBVA season, against Real Betis Balompié (Matchday 37, on 08/05/2016) and should be completed in April 2017, the stand will be open to the public in January 2017.

The Estadio Municipal de Ipurúa (6,265 seats) is the second smallest stadium in the top 5 European Leagues in 2015-16. The work, which will increase the capacity of the stadium by 1,100 seats (from 6,265 to about 7,400), consists of the demolition of the current stand and the construction of a stand that will offer better visibility and better accessibility with a self-supporting roof. The construction of underground parking and a club museum are also planned as part of the work.

"The Estadio Municipal de Ipurúa will retain the image of an English-style stadium, but with updated facilities to fit the twenty-first century customer experience," said SD Eibar.
