D8: Franck Appietto appointed CEO of the Canal+ Group channel

Franck Appietto has been appointed CEO of the free DTT channel D8, announced the Canal+ group, on 18/03/2016. He will report directly to Maxime Saada, CEO of the group. Franck Appietto will continue his role as director of mainstream programmes for Canal+.

He succeeds Xavier Gandon who "decided to leave the group for a new project," according to Canal+, on 18/03/2016.

D8 acquired the live broadcasting rights in France, for the 2016, 2017 and 2018 Champions League finals, on 09/12/2015. It also owns, in partnership with D17 (another free DTT channel of the Canal+ group), the broadcasting rights for matches featuring the French women's and youth teams for the 2014-18 period, which were acquired from the FFF on 30/01/2014.
