"I've got two more months in Italian football and then I'm leaving. Football has worn me out. I'll be happy if the new owners are from Palermo. Next year, I will not be president, for sure. I am 75 years old and I have other things to do," said Maurizio Zamparini, president of US Città di Palermo (Serie A TIM), on 21/03/2016.

Maurizio Zamparini has owned the club since 2002. The Sicilian club was, at the time, playing in the Serie B and won promotion to the Serie A at the end of the 2003-04 season. Founded in 1900, US Città di Palermo had never played in European competition before the arrival of Zamparini as the head of the club; between 2005 and 2012, the club has participated five times in the UEFA Cup / Europa League.

Palermo are currently in 18th place (28 points) in the 2015-16 Serie A, level on points (but behind on goal differential) with Carpi FC 1909 for 17th and the first non-relegation place after 30 matchdays. Six different managers have led the team during 2015-16 season. Since 2002, Maurizio Zamparini has made 35 manager changes on the bench of the US Città di Palermo.
