UK: Sky increases its subscription rates by €3.17 / month on average, as of 01/06/2016

The British broadcaster Sky plc has announced an average increase of £2.50 (€3.17) per month for its subscription rates as of 01/06/2016, on 21/03/2016.

The price of the Sports package, which provides access to Sky Sports, is increasing from £47 to £47.50 (from €59.30 to €59.90) per month, an increase of 1%. The rate had already increased by 6% in September 2014 and 2.2% in June 2015.

This new increase was made public three days after the announcement of the creation of a new sports channel -- Sky Sports Mix -- on 18/03/2016.

  • The largest rate increase will be applied to the "Complete" package, with the monthly price going from £75.75 to £80 (from €95.60 to €100.90) as of 01/06/2015, a 5.5% increase.
  • The Sky Q Service , launched in February 2016, will increase from £42 to £44 (€53 to €55.50) an increase of 4.8%.
