Bundesliga: the German League to launch tender for the 2017-2021 domestic TV rights

The DFL will launch the tender for the audiovisual rights, in Germany, for the 2017-2021 period for the Bundesliga, the 2.Bundesliga, the promotion-relegation play-offs and the German Super Cup, announced the league on 21/03/2016.

"The DFL will start the tender process and inform interested companies as well as the general public about the final structure of rights packages and the further course of events upon completion of the assessment of the marketing model for the tender by the German federal competition authority," stated the DFL on 21/03/2016.

The DFL could pomote the end of the Sky monopoly in the domestic broadcasting of the Bundesliga with the appearance of a "no single buyer rule" (or conversely, a rule stipulating multiple buyers), according to German media on 21/03/2016.

The tender could offer lots with matches in new time slots, such as Monday night. A test of a Bundesliga Monday night match is scheduled during Matchday 32 of the Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga, from 29/04 to 02/05/2016 (see below).
