Santander, the official bank of the 2012 to 2015 editions of the Copa Libertadores, has now extended its partnership until 2018. The Spanish banking group was the title sponsor of the competition from 2008 to 2011 before being replaced by Bridgestone, the Japanese tyre manufacturer.

Santander was also a major partner of the Copa America 2015. These partnerships make Santander the third most recognised brand for football consumers in Latin America, behind Coca-Cola (beverages) and Visa (credit card), said Urgente24, on 16/03/2016.
