Romania: national team wear mathematical equations on their training kit to promote youth education

The players of the Romanian national team wore training kits featuring mathematical equations in place of traditional kit numbers, ahead of their friendly match against Spain (0-0, Cluj Arena in Cluj, ROM), played on 27/03/2016.

This initiative is part of a programme to encourage children to remain in education, as 18% of young Romanians dropped out of school in 2014.

"Football and mathematics are not mutually exclusive. Sports and education are not only complementary but they are basically integrated elements. We want generations of healthy and intelligent students who perform at their best thanks to tools adapted to their interests. Through this project, children will learn the basics of football and have an opportunity -- for the first time in our country -- to discover mathematics through an attractive approach," said Razvan Burleanu, president of the Romanian Federation.
