Colombia are the final country to have qualified for the men's tournament of the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, after winning their play-off against the United States (2-1, 3-2 on aggregate), in Frisco (Texas, USA), on 29/03/2016. The match ends the qualifying stage of the tournament.

16 teams will participate in the men's tournament (32 matches) and 12 teams in the women's tournament (26 matches). The draw for these competitions will be held at the Maracanã Stadium in Rio on 14/04/2016. The men's tournament will be played from 04 to 20/08/2016 and the women's competition from 03 to 19/08/2016.

The 58 men's and women's matches will be played at seven stadiums in six cities (Rio de Janeiro, Brasilia, Manaus, São Paulo, Belo Horizonte and Salvador de Bahia). The two finals will be played at the Maracanã stadium in Rio. The opening match of the women's tournament is scheduled to take place at the Olympic Stadium in Rio, while the equivalent men's match will be played in Brasilia.
