Liverpool City Council buys Everton's training ground for €15m

Liverpool City Council has bought Finch Farm, Everton FC's training ground, for nearly £13m (approx €15m), on the 10/06/2013. Since 2007, the club has leased the pitch from Hudson Capital Properties. An agreement between the council and the club allows Everton FC to rent the training ground at "reduced rate" until 2043.

The aim of this operation is to improve Everton's financial situation. In the long term, the training ground will also provide "an attractive commercial return" for the council, according to the Mayor of Liverpool, Joe Anderson on the 11/06/2013. "We didn't go knocking on Everton's door. They approached us and we negotiated a deal that saves them money. If Liverpool had approached us we would do the same," he added.

The council are also likely to meet Liverpool FC regarding the Anfield stadium expansion, which was announced on the 07/06/2013.
