Portugal: new national technical centre "Cidade do Futebol" near Lisbon inaugurated on 31/03/2016

The "Cidade do Futebol" (City of Football), the new technical centre for the Portugal national teams, was inaugurated in the presence of the President of the Portuguese Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, the Prime Minister, António Costa and the President of the Football Federation, Fernando Gomes, on 31/03/2016. These facilities cover an area of seven hectares, and the construction work began in November 2014. This new centre is located in Alto da Boa Viagem, 15 kilometers west of Lisbon, the Portuguese capital.

The centre includes the new headquarters of the FPF and four training pitches (including one reserved specifically for goalkeepers), a pool, a mini-indoor arena, a hydrotherapy centre, gyms, health facilities, and other services for the Portuguese teams, who will train in the new centre before departing to France for Euro 2016. A media room with a capacity of 350 seats was also included in the new centre.
