Panama Papers: Swiss federal police search UEFA headquarters in Nyon (SUI)

"UEFA can confirm that today (06/04/2016) we received (in Nyon, Vaud, SUI) a visit from the office of the Swiss federal police acting under a warrant and requesting sight of the contracts between UEFA and Cross Trading / Teleamazonas," said UEFA in a statement late in the day on 06/04/2016.

"Naturally, UEFA is providing the federal police with all relevant documents in our possession and will cooperate fully," added the European football confederation.

The contracts in question are those co-signed by Gianni Infantino, the new FIFA president (in 2006, Infantino was the legal director of UEFA) in September 2006 and March 2007, on behalf of UEFA, to the offshore company Cross Trading, owned by businessmen (the Argentines Hugo Jinkis Mariano and his son) currently under investigation by US justice in connection with the investigation into the wider FIFA scandal, according to the revelations of the German daily newspaper the Süddeutsche Zeitung in the Panama Papers scandal.
