Europa League: Liverpool ahead of Borussia Dortmund in most economic measures

With £297m (€384.6m on 01/03/2016) in turnover, excluding player trading, during the 2015 financial year (from 01/06/2014 to 31/05/2015), Liverpool FC (Premier League) maintain a lead of over €100m ahead of Borussia Dortmund (Bundesliga), which generated €276m in turnover, including player trading, in 2014-15. The two clubs meet at the Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund (GER) in the first leg of the quarter-finals of the 2015-16 Europa League, on Thursday 07/04/2016 (kick-off at 20:05 GMT; 21:05 CET).

Notably, the German Jürgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool FC since 08/10/2015, returns to Borussia Dortmund, the club he managed from 2008 to 2015.

In addition to the large difference in the turnover of these two top clubs, Liverpool are also ahead in estimated club value, according to the report from Forbes magazine on 06/05/2015. Liverpool were valued at €863m (8th-highest European club, in terms of estimated value), compared to €615m for Borussia Dortmund (11th).
