SD Eibar: club, based on three studies, estimates it has a €59m economic impact per year to region

The local economic impact of SD Eibar (Liga BBVA) for its past year in the Spanish first division is valued at a total of €59m to the region, according to the results of three studies and internal data, presented by the Basque club, on 31/03/2016.

To measure the impact in its region, SD Eibar, who plays in the Liga BBVA for the second consecutive season in 2015-16, is based in particular on the expenditure made by the club in terms of renovation and equipment purchases (estimated at €8.1m in 2016-17) and the tax contributions of the club to local authorities (estimated at €16.8m in 2016-17).

The club currently employs 94 persons, compared to 40 before joining the Spanish top division. Studies by the Debegesa agency, Kantar Media and Repucom also measured the impact of the presence of SD Eibar in the Liga BBVA on the turnover(€3.5m) of the hotel and restaurant industry in the Basque city of 27,000 people, as well as media exposure, valued at €34.2m.
