Europa League: Dortmund - Liverpool draws 5.68 million viewers in Germany, new record for Sport1

Borussia Dortmund - Liverpool FC (1-1), the first leg quarter-final match of the 2015-16 Europa League, drew 5.68 million viewers on average on the German private, free-TV channel Sport1, on Thursday 07/04/2016 (kick-off at 21:05 CET).

This figure represented an audience share of 19.1%, and allowed Sport1 to achieve the best performance of the day on the German TV market.

The achievement of 5.68 million viewers on average is also a new record for Sport1 since 2007, besting the 2.78 million viewers on average for the Round of 16 match of the Europa League between Tottenham Hotspur FC and Borussia Dortmund (1-2, Dortmund advanced 5-1 on aggregate) on 17/03/2016 (21:05 CET).

The second leg, scheduled on Thursday 14/04/2016, will also be broadcast on Sport1 in Germany.

  • The pay-TV group Sky Deutschland also co-broadcast the Borussia Dortmund - Liverpool FC match in Germany, but its audience figures were not disclosed as of the afternoon of 08/04/2016.
