UEFA: female member will be elected to the ExCo by the Congress, meeting in Budapest (HUN)

The female member of the UEFA Executive Committee will -- for the first time -- be elected by the UEFA Congress, at is 40th Ordinary Meeting in Budapest (Hungary), on Tuesday 03/05/2016, of which the agenda was published on 08/04/2016.

"The female member in the UEFA Executive Committee will be elected by the UEFA Congress, whereas so far she was designated by the Executive Committee. She may also come from a federation already represented on the Executive Committee," reads an amendment to the UEFA Statutes, adopted at the 11th Extraordinary UEFA Congress in Zurich (SUI), on 25/02/2016 and which entered into force on 01/03/2016.

The Norwegian Karen Espelund was confirmed, by acclamation, as the female member of the UEFA Executive Committee for the 2015-2019 period at the ExCo's meeting in Prague (Czech Republics) on 30/06/2015. The deadline for applications for the election, on 03/05/2016, of the next female member in 19/04/2016.
