Premier League: Aston Villa, assured of relegation, will reduce its administrative staff by 10-20%

"Aston Villa Football Club can confirm it has updated all staff on the proposed changes to the club structure in order to put it back on a firm footing. These changes will result in a headcount reduction but every effort will be made through a voluntary scheme, to mitigate as much as is possible, the need for compulsory redundancies," announced Aston Villa FC (Premier League) on 11/04/2016.

Aston Villa are currently in 20^th and last place (16 points) in the Premier League table after 33 matchdays, and 15 points behind the first non-relegation place (Norwich City FC, in 17^th with 31 points). The club posted losses of £27.8m (€35m) at the end of the 2014-15 fiscal year, bringing its total losses since 2007 to over £250m (€314m).

Aston Villa FC counted 534 full-time employees and 1,619 part-time employees at the end of the 2014-15 season. Several British media outlets announced a workforce reduction of 10 to 20%, or between 50 and 100 full-time positions.
