"I understand the frustration of seeing the OM unable to be competitive at this level and I have taken the decision to hand over the club to the best possible investor for the long term," announced Margarita Louis-Dreyfus, the majority shareholder of Olympique de Marseille (Ligue 1), on the club's website on 13/04/2016.

Margarita Louis-Dreyfus has been the majority shareholder of Olympique de Marseille since the death of her husband, Robert Louis-Dreyfus, on 04/07/2009. The Swiss-born, naturalized French businessman become majority shareholder of Olympique de Marseille in 1996. Until 13/04/2016, Margarita Louis-Dreyfus has never officially announced the sale of the club, despite many rumors indicating as such.

"The price is not my primary concern, rather the new shareholder's ability to build a team that can win at the highest possible level is essential the moment the buyer will be selected, I will inform Mr. Mayor and the fans," said Margarita Louis-Dreyfus on 13/04/2016.
