DFB: former treasurer Reinhard Grindel becomes the 12th president of the German Federation

Reinhard Grindel has been elected president of the DFB at the extraordinary general assembly held in Frankfurt (GER), on 15/04/2016. The law school graduate and former journalist, who is 54 years old, has been treasurer of the German Federation since 2013, and becomes the 12th president of the DFB, succeeding Wolfgang Niersbach, who resigned on 09/11/2015.

"It is a great honor for me to take this responsibility. The DFB is in front of key challenges that I would like take on together with my colleagues on the board, and with the Federation staff," said Reinhard Grindel on 15/04/2016.

"I am delighted in the trust placed in me by both the amateur and professional branches of German football. My role is to harmonise the interests of both. As president, I will set a goal to strengthen the unity of football," added the new president of the German Federation.
