Spain: Mediapro entrusts distribution of beIN Sports to regional operator Telecable for three years

The Spanish broadcaster Mediapro has assigned the distribution of its future pay channel beIN Sports La Liga to Telecable, the regional pay-TV operator of Asturias (northwestern region of Spain, around Gijon), on 11/04/2016.

The agreement covers the 2016-2019 cycle, during which beIN Sports La Liga will exclusively broadcast eight games during each matchday of the Liga BBVA, including one of Real Madrid or Barcelona. Mediapro had acquired these rights for €1.9bn over three seasons (€633m per year), on 02/12/2015.

  • beIN Sports España is a joint venture between Mediapro and the Qatari broadcasting group beIN Media Group.
  • In addition to Movistar+, beIN Sports is available in Spain on the pay-TV bouquets of the Orange and Vodafone telecommunications groups. The channel is also accessible via beIN Sports Connect, the streaming platform of the beIN Media Group, and TotalChannel, the OTT offer without commitment from Mediapro, as well as the video sharing and streaming platform and YouTube.
