Africa: Econet Media acquires the rights to the NBA in sub-Saharan Africa for 2016-17

The South African telecommunications group Econet Media has acquired the TV rights, for free-TV in sub-Saharan Africa, to the NBA for the 2016-17 season, on 21/04/2016.

The agreement will cover all NBA broadcast content on TV, online and on mobile via Econet Media, including the highly anticipated Kwese broadcasting platform and its sports offering, Kwese Sports. Econet Media access includes more than 500 games per year.

The Kwese Sports platform is to be launched in August 2016, and will also broadcast the Premier League (Matchday 1, on 13/08/2016), of which Econet Media acquired the TV rights, for free-TV, from 2016 to 2019, on 17/03/2016.
