Cardiff City Stadium: an additional 5,000 seats for 2014/15

The Cardiff City Stadium, home of Cardiff City FC (Championship winners in 2012/13 and promoted to the Premier League) with a current capacity of 26,800, is set to expand its capacity by 5,000 seats by the start of the 2014/15 season, the club announced on 17/06/2013. The 2013/14 season is the Welsh club's first season in the Premier League since 1959/60.

Malaysian billionaire Vincent Tan, owner of the club since 2010, stated that the expansion of the stadium was one of his goals in June 2012, in addition to changing the club's colours from blue to red. Tan is set to invest €14m for the expansion, on top of the original €56m investment for the stadium's construction in 2009. Tan has confirmed that the club won't play at the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff (capacity: 74,000) during the construction.
