Facebook: rankings of the European Top 5 leagues (May 2016)

The Premier League remains the most popular European championship on the social network Facebook, with more than 227.5 million of cumulative fans of its 20 clubs for the 2015-16 season (average of 11.3 million fans per club), according to data compiled by News Tank Football on 02/05/2016.

The largest increase (38.6%) was that for Leicester City FC, the leader of the English league: the Foxes progressed from 2.7 million to 3.7 million fans in the space of one month. The Liga BBVA ranks second in the European Top 5 leagues, with 205 million cumulative fans, of which 88% are for only FC Barcelona (92.5 million) and Real Madrid CF (88.8 million) combined. The Serie A TIM is third with 69.9 million cumulative Facebook fans, while the Bundesliga, with 63 million cumulative fans across its 18 clubs, is fourth, ahead of Ligue 1 and its 40.4 million fans.
