Valencia CF: shirts with the names of the players' mothers to celebrate Mother's Day on 01/05/2016

Valencia CF placed the names of the players' mothers on the back of the shirt for the club's home match against Villareal CF (0-2, Matchday 36 of the Liga BBVA), on 01/05/2016, the date of Mother's Day in Spain.

"This initiative is conducted in partnership with UN Women to promote the recognition of women in football and in society. This initiative is to honor the efforts and sacrifices that millions of mothers make for their children to play football, showing the values of hard work and perseverance," stated Valencia CF on 29/04/2016.

UN Women, the UN organisation dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women, has been visible on the back of the shirt of Valencia CF in European competitions since the start of the 2015-16 season, and through the 2018-19 season. The partnership between the two parties was formally presented at the UN headquarters in New York (USA), on 26/05/2015.
