The Liga BBVA remained the most followed championship in Europe on Twitter with its 44 million combined followers across the main accounts of the 20 clubs who participated in the 2015-16 season, according to data compiled by News Tank, on 02/05/2016.

With all cumulative accounts taken into consideration FC Barcelona are the most popular club on Twitter with 36.9 million followers ahead of Real Madrid CF who boast 30.7 million. Manchester United FC (8.4 million) are third and Chelsea FC (8.3 million) fourth, ahead of Arsenal FC (7.4 million).

However, Leicester City FC had the strongest growth during the month of April 2016, before the club won the 2015-16 Premier League title, with their following increasing from 428,000 to 659,000, equating to a rise of 54% in just one month.
