Portugal: Sport TV acquires the TV rights for Euro 2016 via a sublicense from the public group RTP

The Portuguese pay-TV group Sport TV has acquired the broadcasting rights in Portugal for Euro 2016 via a sublicense from the public television group RTP (Rádio e Televisão de Portugal), on 05/03/2016. Sport TV will broadcast 51 Euro 2016 matches, including 27 exclusively.

RTP, which had originally acquired the rights to broadcast the competition via an agreement between the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and UEFA, signed on 24/06/2015, retains the free-TV broadcasting rights of 24 matches including those featuring Portugal, the opening match between France - Romania, on 10/06/2016, and all matches in the knockout phase. RTP will launch a 4K channel to broadcast a maximum of eight matches.

  • Portugal - Iceland, Saint-Étienne (Stade Geoffroy-Guichard), Tuesday, 14/06/2016 (21:00)
  • Portugal - Austria, Paris (Parc des Princes), Saturday, 18/06/2016 (21:00)
  • Hungary - Portugal, Lyon (Parc OL), Wednesday, 22/06/2016 (18:00)
