Burnley FC, champions of the Sky Bet Championship, will be promoted to the Premier League after the 2015-16 season. The club won its last game against Charlton Athletic FC (3-0) on 05/07/2016 and finished with 93 points after 46 matchdays, two more than Middlesbrough FC, who were also promoted to the Premier League.

Burnley FC posted a turnover of €99.2m (£78.77m), an increase of €74.5m compared to 2013-14 (€24.7m) and a record net profit of €37.96m (£30.1m) for the 2014-15 season (from 07/01/2014 - 30/06/2015), on 31/03/2016. Promoted to the Premier League in 2014-15 thanks to their second place finish at the end of the 2013-14 Championship season (behind Leicester City FC who have subsequently won the 2015-16 Premier League title) Burnley, a town situated 30km north of Manchester, finished 19th and were relegated back to the Championship.
