FIFA: suspension of Michel Platini reduced from 6 to 4 years by the Court of Arbitration for Sport

"The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has rendered its decision in the arbitration procedure between Michel Platini and FIFA. The suspension of Mr. Platini has been lowered from 6 to 4 years and the CHF 80,000 fine to CHF 60,000," announces the CAS, on 05/09/2016.

The UEFA president Michel Platini, who has been suspended since 08/10/2015, brought an action before the CAS to challenge his six year suspension from any position in football, enforced by the FIFA Appeal Committee, on 24/02/2016. This Committee had previously reduced the eight year suspension imposed by the adjudicatory chamber of the Ethics Committee, on 12/21/2015, by two years.

"I have done nothing, I have made no mistake. Afterwards, in ethics, you can do what you want, you can find anything you want as conflict of interest, it's easy. I worked, I made an invoice, I followed FIFA guidelines, I received the money and paid the corresponding taxes," said Michel Platini, after the hearing before the CAS on 29/04/2016.
