BT Consumer: €5.84bn turnover in 2016 (+7.3%), 24% of the entire BT Group (€24bn)

BT Consumer, the division of the British telecommunications group BT which provides the BT Sport channel, posted a turnover of £4.598bn (€5.84bn) for the 2016 financial year (from 01/04/2015 to 31/03/2016), announced the group on 05/05/2016. This is an increase of 7.3% compared to 2015 (£4.285bn, €5.91bn at the time) and represents 24% of the total turnover of BT in 2016 (£18.9bn / €24.1bn).

The operating profit of BT Consumer totalled £831m (€1.053bn) in 2016, up 2% compared to 2015 (£813m, €1.122bn at the time). BT Consumer contributed 23.9% of the total operating earnings of BT (£3.47bn, €4.41bn).

The operational costs of BT Consumer increased by 9% (£3.561bn, €4.51bn) over the financial year, particularly after the launch of BT Sport Europe, which was announced on 09/06/2015 and launched on 01/08/2015. BT Sport Europe broadcasts 351 Champions League and Europa League matches every season.
