DFB-Pokal: Sky Deutschland group extends its TV rights through to 2019

The pay-TV group, Sky Deutschland, has extended its broadcasting rights for the DFB-Pokal until 2018-19, announced the German Federation, on 09/05/2016. The private channel will broadcast all 63 games of the German Cup, including the final in Berlin, as well as match highlights.

"The deal with Sky underlines the importance of each match in the DFB-Pokal and therefore how attractive this competition is. It is a great thing to give fans the ability to enjoy the fascinating experience of the DFB-Pokal at home, live and uninterrupted for the next 3 years. Sky is a good, reliable partner of the DFB. I am very pleased that the cooperation will continue," said Reinhard Grindel, the new president of DFB on 09/05/2016.

The German public broadcaster ARD extended its broadcasting rights deal for the DFB-Pokal for the same period, announced the DFB on 11/03/2016. ARD and Sky will pay a cumulative €100m per year during the 2016-2019 period, three times more than in 2012-2016 (€34m per season), according to the German daily Bild on 28/11/2015.
