Premier League: Chinese company Whaley Technology to be the official TV partner of Man City in China

Whaley Technology, a Chinese manufacturer of smart televisions (capable of WiFi connection), has become the official TV partner of Manchester City FC (Premier League) in China, on 09/05/2016. Neither the duration nor the amount of the partnership were disclosed. Whaley will broadcast exclusive club content in 4K and will be visible on the back of the Manchester City shirts during their China tour in the summer of 2016 including their matches against Manchester United FC (on 25/07/2016 in Beijing) and Borussia Dortmund (on 28/07/2016 in Shenzhen).

Alibaba Group Holding Limited (e-commerce), Tencent Holdings Limited (internet) and China Media Capital Holdings (CMC) invested $313m (€281.7m at the time) in Whaley Technology, on 14/08/2015. A Chinese consortium, consisting of CMC and CITIC Capital, then acquired a 13% stake in CFG (City Football Group) for $400m (€377m at the time), announced the holding company owner of Manchester City FC, on 01/12/2015.
