"The UEFA Executive Committee will meet on the morning of 18/05/2016, in Basel (SUI), to discuss the next steps to be taken, including setting an Electoral Congress," said UEFA on 09/05/2016, having "taken note of the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport to suspend the UEFA president, Michel Platini, from any activity related to football for four years, as well as the Frenchman's statement announcing his intention to resign as president of UEFA."

"As agreed with the national associations, I will leave my post as UEFA president in order to continue my fight in the Swiss courts to prove my innocence in this matter," said Michel Platini in a statement, on 09/05/2016.

"In the meantime, no interim UEFA president shall be appointed," added the European Confederation.

The Executive Committee meeting is scheduled ahead of the Europa League final between Liverpool FC (Premier League) and Sevilla FC (Liga BBVA), to be held at St. Jacques Park in Basel, on Wednesday 18/05/2016 (20:45 CET).
