FIFA: election by Congress of new committee members, in Mexico City on 13/05/2016

Luis Miguel Poiares Maduro (POR) was elected president and Mukul Mugdal (IND) vice-president of the FIFA Governance Committee, stated the international federation at the Congress in Mexico City (MEX) on 13/05/2016. "Both hold onto their positions in the commission of independent control, of which Luis Felipe Cantuarias Salaverry (PER) is an elected member," added FIFA (see below).

"This mechanism is intended to protect the institution against conflicts of interest with regards to the appointments to key bodies and commissions," said FIFA on 14/05/2016.

The congress also elected the members of the Disciplinary Committee, the Ethics Committee and the Audit and Compliance Committee (see below). They also "authorised the FIFA Council (former executive committee) to appoint the remaining members of the Audit and Compliance Committee, the Governance Committee and the judicial bodies at the 67^th FIFA Congress. The same goes for the dismissal of members," said FIFA on 13/05/2016.
