Liverpool FC (Premier League) and Sevilla FC (Liga BBVA) will meet for the first time in UEFA competition in the final of the 2015-16 Europa League, at St. Jakob Park in Basel (SUI) on Wednesday 18/05/2016 (kick-off at 20:45 CET).

Liverpool have won three UEFA Cups, the forerunner of the Europa League, in 1973, 1976 and 2001. The first club to reach the final of the Europa League for the third consecutive season, Sevilla have won the competition four times in the last ten years: 2006, 2007, 2014 and 2015.

The winner of the final will qualify directly for the group stage of the 2016-17 Champions League, according to new regulations which came into force in 2015-16. Liverpool finished eighth in the Premier League, while Sevilla finished seventh in the Liga BBVA.

Before the final, more than 200 artists will perform on the St. Jakob Park pitch. DJ Schiller and the singer Arlissa will perform alongside dancers from a local school in Rheinfelden. The artistic concept was created by the Polish agency Platige Image in collaboration with the choreographer Waldek Szymkowiak.
