Chelsea FC: Nike could become kit supplier for 2017-2027 with deal worth £60m per season (press)

The American sports equipment brand Nike may become the official kit supplier of Chelsea FC (Premier League) from the 2017-18 season, for a period of 10 years (until 2026-27), according to the British newspaper Telegraph Sport and the American media outlet Bloomberg on 17/05/2016. The annual amount, excluding sporting performance bonuses, would total £60m per year (€76.9m on 18/05/2016), which is more than double the amount paid by adidas to "The Blues" from 2013-14 up until the end of the 2016-17 fiscal year.

adidas and Chelsea FC announced the premature termination of their partnership "by mutual consent" at the end of the 2016-17 season, six years ahead of the originally scheduled term (2022-23), on 11/05/2016. adidas have been a partner of Chelsea since 2006-07. The London club will pay the German supplier a total compensation amount of €50m in 2016 and 2017 for the early termination of the contract.
