The Philadelphia 76ers and StubHub, a platform for the resale of tickets for shows and sporting events, signed the first ever jersey sponsorship deal in NBA history, announced the North American basketball league on 16/05/2016. This partnership, only valid for home games, will be effective from the 2017-18 season when the StubHub logo will appear on the upper left chest of the Sixers' jersey. The duration of the contract is three years, with an annual amount which could be worth around $5m (€4.4m), according to the US media outlet ESPN.

The NBA authorised teams to sell a small sponsorship space on their shirts on 15/04/2016, however the advertisers can not be political groups, gambling companies, alcohol brands, or competitors of some of the NBA's official partners: ESPN, ABC, Turner (media), Nike (sports equipment brand, from 2017-18), Tissot (official watch) and Spalding (official supplier of basketballs). However, other NBA league-wide partners, such as the ticket resale platform Ticketmaster, are not protected.
